Description:
"SkamoWall Basic Anti-damp" calcium silicate boards are the ideal solution to the recurring problems of humidity, damp, mould and bad odours regularly found in poorly or barely ventilated rooms such as basements, garages, cellars and so on.
They act as a humidity regulator: thanks to their high capillarity, they allow moisture to move from the cold side of the wall to the warm side, where it evaporates into the room until a point of equilibrium is reached.
SkamoWall Basic lets you reduce your energy consumption by up to 70 % compared with an uninsulated brick wall.
Characteristics:
- Lightweight material, smooth and easy to cut (woodworking tools, etc.)
- Withstands fixing by screws or wall plugs.
- Ecological building product.
- Once assembled, the support is solid, strong and self-supporting.
- Easy assembly that can be done by one person.
- Class A1, it meets the most demanding fire classification EN 13 501.
- Non-combustible product.
Box contents:
- 8 "special damp" calcium silicate boards of 1000 x 610 x 25 mm, i.e. 4.88 m²
- 1 bag of special silicate adhesive, 20 kg
- 1 special silicate primer in 3 litre can
- 1 bag of special silicate finishing render, 15 kg
Instructions for use:
Unlike the calcium silicate boards used for the thermal insulation of wood stoves, fireplaces, flues, etc., "special damp" silicate boards can be bonded directly onto the existing substrate (brick wall, concrete blocks, etc.) using the special silicate adhesive supplied in the box (applied to the substrate with a tiling comb, for example).
Their light weight and composition mean they can be used without a metal frame, which avoids any damage due to the difference in expansion between materials.
For making boxings, window surrounds, etc., the boards can be fixed with traditional wall plugs and screws.
Once bonded and fixed, it is advisable to fill the joints between the boards with the supplied adhesive.
Applying the primer with a roller or brush will guarantee good adhesion of the render.
The render can be applied in 2 coats: a first coat to smooth out any irregularities and the joints between the boards, and a second, thinner coat (which can be pigmented) for the finish.
The render can also be painted, using an acrylic paint or a water-based paint that will not block the pores of the material and thus lets the calcium silicate breathe.
