Description:
"Moisture-resistant SkamoWall Basic" calcium silicate boards are the ideal solution to the recurring problems of humidity, damp, mould and unpleasant odours regularly found in poorly or little-ventilated rooms such as basements, garages, cellars...
They act as a humidity regulator: thanks to their high capillarity, they allow moisture to move from the cold side of the wall to the warm side, where it evaporates into the room until a point of equilibrium is reached.
➡️ SkamoWall Basic can reduce your energy consumption by up to 70% compared with an uninsulated brick wall.
Characteristics:
✅ Lightweight, smooth material, easy to cut (woodworking tools...)
✅ Holds screw or plug fixings.
✅ Environmentally friendly building product.
✅ Once installed, the substrate is solid, strong and self-supporting.
✅ Easy installation by a single person.
✅ Classified A1, it meets the most demanding fire classification, EN 13 501.
✅ Non-combustible product.
Instructions for use:
- Unlike the calcium silicate boards used for the thermal insulation of wood stoves, fireplaces, flues..., "moisture-resistant" silicate boards can be glued directly to the existing substrate (brick wall, concrete blocks...) using the special silicate adhesive sold on our website (applied to the substrate with a notched tile trowel, for example).
- Their lightness and composition allow them to be used without a metal frame, which avoids any damage caused by differential expansion between materials.
- For building boxing, window surrounds..., the boards can be fixed with standard plugs and screws.
- Once glued and fixed, it is advisable to fill the board joints with the special silicate adhesive. Use fully threaded wood screws.
- Applying, with a roller or brush, the special silicate primer will ensure good adhesion of the special silicate render.
- This can be applied in 2 coats: a first coat to smooth out any irregularities and the board joints, and a second, thinner coat (which can be tinted) for the finish.
The render can also be painted with an acrylic or water-based paint that will not clog the pores of the material, allowing the calcium silicate to breathe.
