SuperWool Plus presentation
Description sheet on the reduced thermal conductivity of the SuperWool Plus refractory wool blanket by Morgan Thermal Ceramics.
SuperWool Plus refractory blanket, foil-faced one side - 25 mm thick - Per linear metre
Refractory wool blanket with one aluminium-faced side is a must in the construction of masonry heaters, as well as wood-fired ovens and other refractory masonry.
With a density of 96 kg /m³, it is used as insulation and can also serve as an expansion joint and seal. Here it is offered per linear metre and in 25 mm thickness.

Technical specifications of the SuperWool Plus 25 mm blanket with one aluminium face:
✅ Needled blanket in bio-soluble Plus fibre
✅ Density: 96 kg /m³
✅ Width: 610 mm
✅ Thickness: 25 mm
✅ Length: 1 m minimum
✅ Aluminium thickness: 30 microns
✅ Application temperature: 1200°C (fibre) and 600°C (Alu)
✅ Fire rating: A1
Varied applications in different fields:
Refractory wool blankets are needled on both sides with an aluminium facing bonded on one side. They have high tensile strength before and after heating.
- Suitable for high and medium temperature industrial applications.
- Used as an expansion and sealing joint and/or as flexible insulation in the construction of masonry heaters, fireboxes and so on.
- Ideal for insulating the outside of the domes/vaults of wood-fired ovens.
- Very highly recommended between cast iron / metal parts and masonry.
Special feature of the refractory blanket with one aluminium side:
The aluminium facing bonded to one of the 2 sides of the fibre provides a "vapour barrier" effect and limits the build-up of moisture on the blanket, in outdoor installations for example, which could damage it.
The aluminium also provides mechanical protection for the fibre and means fewer fibres are exposed.
Advantages of the refractory blanket SuperWool Plus:
- Excellent thermal insulation performance, even at high temperatures.
- High thermal stability: it retains a flexible fibrous structure up to its classification temperature.
- Low heat storage
- High tear resistance
- Insensitive to thermal shock
- Good acoustic insulation
- Exempt from any carcinogenic classification under Note Q of Directive 97/69 EC
- Flexibility and resilience
- Contains no binder or lubricant, and gives off neither smoke nor odour when heated.
- Easy to cut (with a utility knife and a ruler) and to install.
- Sold per linear metre: no waste, you only buy the length you need!
