90° tee with double damper (Bypass) - 2 mm painted steel flue pipe
90° tee in 2 mm painted steel with double damper, also called a Bypass, used mainly as a connecting piece between the flue and the wood-burning heating appliance to change the path of the flue gases according to the needs of your masonry heater or heat-storing fireplace.
Available in 150, 160, 180 and 200 mm diameters.

👉 The main role of the bypass damper with male branch (horizontal part) is to change the path of the flue gases depending on the operating phase of your appliance:
When lighting or reloading: Open the damper so that the smoke rises directly into the chimney flue. This helps the draught, prevents smoke entering the room and warms the flue quickly.
In steady operation: Once the fire is well established, close the damper. The flue gases are then forced to follow a longer path (often through a heat recovery unit or a heat store): this maximises energy efficiency by recovering as much heat as possible before the flue gases leave the house.
There are many advantages to fitting a Bypass damper on your flue:
✅ Prevents smoke blowing back into the living room when the door is opened.
✅Performance : Increases the efficiency of the installation by "trapping" the heat in the system for longer.
✅Safety : Allows the heat exchangers to be bypassed if they are too fouled or if the draught is insufficient due to unsettled weather.
⚠️ To operate it, you will need to add a control handle not supplied on one of the 2 rods / 8 x 8 mm square connection ends (1 male rod on one side and a female end on the other).
Its 50 mm male/female spigot is perfectly smooth and gives an impeccable finish.
🔥As a reminder, flue pipes must be installed in the direction of the condensates, i.e. male end downwards.
➡️ Coated with a black Senotherm paint that needs to be brought up to temperature to be "cured", it can be useful to get a refractory spray paint for a few touch-ups during installation.
What are the advantages of 2 mm painted steel?
✅ Withstands high temperatures of up to 1000°C.
✅ Does not deform under the effect of heat
✅ Substantial 2 mm thickness that ensures robustness and safety over time
✅ Excellent value for money
⚠️ Reminder of the safety distances according to the NF DTU 24.1 standard:
The safety distance to be kept between a single-wall connecting flue pipe and a combustible material (plasterboard, panelling, PVC, OSB, etc.) is 3 times the nominal diameter of the pipe, with a minimum of 37.5 cm.
However, this distance can be reduced to 1.5 times the diameter of the pipe (with a minimum of 20 cm) by using insulation such as calcium silicate boards (fitted with an air gap) or wall protection boards with built-in insulation.
🔥2 mm painted steel flue pipes are designed to operate under N1 (40 Pa) sealing conditions up to 600° (T600) but can withstand temperatures of up to 1000°C.
