👉 The MAS system recovers the thermal energy contained in the very hot flue gases just before they escape into the chimney flue.
It provides heat storage through ceramic rings that absorb heat while the fire is burning, and its prolonged release (radiation): once the fire has gone out, the module continues to give off gentle, even radiant heat into the room for several hours.
The MAS kit consists of:
✅ 1 upper cast iron dome, Ø 180 mm
✅ 2 twin-wall storage rings
✅ 1 intermediate ring
The Brunner heat storage kit has many advantages:
➡️ Fuel savings: by increasing the overall efficiency of the appliance, you burn less wood for the same heating time.
➡️ Space saving: unlike side-mounted storage units, the MAS stacks vertically, keeping the footprint very small.
➡️ Thermal comfort: avoids overheating peaks in the room during combustion and prolongs the feeling of well-being once the fire has gone out.
With this option, the cast iron dome for the flue outlet is automatically supplied in 180 mm diameter, with the option of switching to 200 mm diameter by ordering the Ø 200 mm replacement sleeve.
⚠️ The heat storage kit alters the technical characteristics of the firebox, such as heat output, flue gas mass flow, etc. Refer to the insert's technical data sheet in the "storage version" according to EN 13229 WA.
